With our cultivation experience and technical knowledge, we support growers in getting started.
Our Asparagus family:
· Asparagus densiflorus myriocladus — Ming fern
· Asparagus falcatus — Sicklethorn
· Asparagusdensiflorus meyerii — Foxtail fern
· Asparagus densiflorus 'Sprengerii' —Sprengeri asparagus fern
· Asparagussetaceus plumosus nanus — Plumosa fern
· Asparagus densiflorus 'Crebe' — Emerald fern
Each variety has its own leaf structure and growth form.
As a result, Asparagus can be widely used: as a pot plant, garden plant or as cut green in flower arrangements.
In the spotlight: Asparagus densiflorus meyerii
A special appearance within the family is Asparagus densiflorus meyerii, also known as the Foxtail fern. This subtropical plant grows compact and erect and forms long, plume-like stems that are reminiscent of soft fox tails. The bright green, needle-like leaves provide a striking structure and give the plant a decorative appearance. As a result, this Asparagus is versatile in use: as houseplant, garden plant, hanging plant or if structurally rich green leaves in bouquets. This species is native to East and South Africa, where it grows in shady forests and savannah areas. This origin makes the plant strong and adaptable.
Good news for growers: Asparagus densiflorus meyerii has recently shown an exceptionally high germination rate, so extra young plants are currently available.
At Evanthia, the starting material of this variety is available all year round as seeds and young plants from seeds.
