Asparagus densiflorus 'Cwebe'

Asparagus densiflorus Cwebe is an spiny, shade-loving, subtropical foliage plant. This finely textured shrub has a compact, more upright growing habit and somewhat broader needle-like leaves than other A. densiflorus varieties. On mature plants of A. Cwebe, new foliage has a showy reddish/copper colour. Asparagus densiflorus is native to eastern and South Africa, where it grows as a perennial shrub in dry to moist, shady forests and savanna bushes. Asparagus densiflorus Cwebe can be used as an ornamental houseplant or as filler foliage in cut flower bouquets. It is commonly known as Cwebe asparagus fern or Cwebe emerald fern. Other internationally used common names for Asparagus densiflorus Cwebe are: Asparagus fern; Cwebe basket asparagus; smaragsiervaring; isiqobola, umgcagcazane, uvelabahleke. Evanthia has Asparagus densiflorus Cwebe starting material available upon request, as seed and young plants from seed. Ask our team for the Asparagus cultivation manual for commercial production.
