Beaucarnea / Nolina recurvata
Beaucarnea recurvata, also called Nolina recurvata, is often mistaken for a palm, but it is actually a semi-succulent. This characteristic tree-like plant has a large swollen trunk that stores water. The dark green leaves are long and thin and emerge from the trunk like a fountain. Beaucarnea recurvata is native to the arid-tropical parts of Mexico, where it grows in mountain forests and on rocky cliffs. Beaucarnea recurvata is a well-known robust, sun-loving houseplant. In mild to warmer climates, it can also be used as a patio plant or for landscaping and can grow into a large tree. Beaucarnea recurvata is also known as Elephant's Foot. Other internationally used names for Beaucarnea or Nolina recurvata include: Ponytail palm, Bottle palm or Elephant's foot; Big Base Palm; Desert Pony Tail Palm; Ponytail Nolina; Elephant foot tree. Evanthia has Beaucarnea recurvata starting material available year-round, as seeds and young plants from seed. Ask our team for the Beaucarnea / Nolina cultivation manual for commercial production.
