Carthamus tinctorius Ice Cream
Carthamus Ice Cream features thistle-like flowers with a unique light vanilla color and fresh green foliage. In terms of plant structure and stem length, this variety is similar to Carthamus Zanzibar, but Ice Cream is approximately one week faster to harvest. Sowing can be done indoors in the greenhouse or directly outdoors, preferably under fleece. Sow this Carthamus from late winter until late summer for a harvest period ranging from early summer to mid-autumn. The large buds of Carthamus Ice Cream are supported by very strong stems that prove their durability during transport, processing, and in the vase. This versatile Carthamus is suitable for both fresh and dried bouquets, and can also be harvested green at an earlier stage.
