Dianthus barbatus Barbienne Violet
Dianthus Barbienne Violet is the deep purple/violet variety of the Dianthus Barbienne series. Dianthus Barbienne is a high-yielding, biennial series with long, robust stems and large, beautifully shaped, dense flower heads. The different varieties are uniform in flowering time and are more resistant to rust than standard Dianthus series. Sow Barbienne in the greenhouse from late summer to early autumn, for flowering from late winter to mid-spring. Outdoors, sowing can take place in mid-summer, for harvest from mid-spring to early summer. Under tunnels, you can start even earlier using young plants as starting material. Dianthus Barbienne requires a cold period to come into bloom, but is then well-plannable and flowers profusely with heavy quality flower stems.
