Musa basjoo

Musa basjoo is an impressive herbaceous perennial with a vigorous growth habit. It is known as the most cold-hardy banana plant. This decorative, subtropical highlight has a slender, reddish trunk topped with large, glossy green leaves. Musa basjoo is native to subtropical parts of southern China, where it grows at high altitudes. Musa basjoo can be grown under cool conditions and is an excellent Musa for borders, container plantings, and landscaping. Once mature, it produces small inedible bananas.
