Yucca gloriosa 'Variegata'
Yucca gloriosa Variegata is a robust, evergreen perennial that eventually forms a woody trunk and becomes more tree-like. Initially, this decorative, subtropical eye-catcher forms a dense rosette of attractive sturdy, dark green leaves with yellow-colored margins. The leaves are sword-shaped with sharp points. At a later stage, the leaves will crown the top of the trunk. Yucca gloriosa is native to the southeastern United States, particularly along the coasts from Carolina to Florida, where it grows along the coastline on rocky slopes and sand dunes. The slow-growing Yucca gloriosa is very hardy and highly suitable for patio containers, gardens, and landscaping. In late summer and autumn, the cream-colored bell-shaped flowers attract pollinators to the garden. Yucca gloriosa is also known as Spanish Dagger. Other internationally used names for Yucca gloriosa include: Mound Lily Yucca. Evanthia has Yucca gloriosa Variegata available year-round as young plants from tissue culture.
