Connection & inspiration: FlowerTrials 2023 - recap

FlowerTrials® 2023

With an overwhelming number of visitors, highly appreciated feedback on our offer and engaging discussions on topics such as peat-free plugs, genetic compactness and cool crops, we look back on a fantastic edition of FlowerTrials®. We are enthusiastically gearing up for the new season and cannot wait to continue conversations and further explore new opportunities.

Like our team, we hope you experienced a week of inspiration and connection and thank everyone who took the time to visit our show. We’d love to share our highlights with you, as a quick recap or in case you missed us.

Key take-aways

  • Pot & bedding plants: Potted sunflowers are in high demand worldwide. There was lots of attention for the latest development within the Helianthus Sunsation® series. With Sunsation® Compact, Evanthia offers a new generation of cheerful potted sunflowers that can be grown stress-free: without PGR, without high ECs or dry cycles. Step by step, awareness of Sunsation® is growing and (inter)national growers are including these genetics in their assortment.

  • Cut flowers: for many international visitors (from Japan to Chile and from Italy to Kenya), FlowerTrials® was the first opportunity to see the Matthiola StoX® series in full bloom with their own eyes. The sparkling colour spectrum could be admired both in the show and at the greenhouses of FlowerXL. In addition, there was notable interest in the extensive selection of seasonal flowers presented in lush field bouquets. Trachelium and the new Tanacetum Cameron were regularly picked out and appreciated for their rich flowering branches and the durability and resistance they offered in the challenging temperatures of week 24.

  • Eucalyptus citriodora was a major hit in the tropical presentation of our show. The end products grown in a large-scale trial by Mulders Sierteelt looked marvellous. With a lovely lemon scent, which is also great for repelling mosquitoes, this Eucalyptus is a promising product for summer! Furthermore, at FlowerTrials® we showed our own selection Hypoestes Coloratus™ for the first time. A colourful series of decorative foliage plants suitable as houseplants as well as annuals in patio pots and beds.
