Calathea Medallion
Calathea Medallion is an exquisite tropical foliage plant with a bushy, clump-forming habit. This attractive, Calathea has bold-striped, luxurious foliage with a strongly-contrasting green and silver colour pattern. The rounded leaves are broader than most Calatheas. As a typical Calathea, C. Medallion too earns its nickname as ‘living plant’ because it closes or rises its leaves at night and uncurls or lowers them again in the morning. Calathea is native to tropical areas of South America, where it grows as an evergreen perennial in the shady, damp understories of rainforests. It makes for a stylish and easy houseplant. Calathea Medallion is commonly known as Peacock plant, because of its striking exotic leaf pattern. Evanthia has Calathea Medallion starting material available all year round, as tissue culture young plants. Ask our team for the Calathea cultivation manual for commercial production.
