Calathea warscewiczii
Calathea warscewiczii is a decorative, tropical foliage plant, with a compact growth habit. C. warscewiczii is beautifully patterned with bright green and dark green. The elongated leaves have a matt finish and contrasting velvety purple undersides. As a typical Calathea, C. warscewiczii also deserves the nickname 'living plant' because it closes or lifts its leaves at night and uncurls or lowers them again in the morning. Calathea warscewiczii originates as an evergreen perennial in tropical regions of Brazil. There it grows in the shady, damp understory of rainforests. Other internationally used names for Calathea warscewiczii are: Prayer plant and Goeppertia warszewiczii. Evanthia has Calathea warscewiczii starting material available year round, as young plants from tissue culture. Ask our team for the Calathea cultivation manual for commercial production.
